A bar in a hotel like ours has to be all things to all people. It's where to come just to relax; it's where to come for an espresso made with the finest Illy coffee, or for local, award-winning beers and ciders or for a platter - local cheeses and handmade salamis - to complement your drink, day or night.
But because - for once - you've got time and you're spoiling yourself, why not try a really special vodka or gin, or swill a late-night Cognac made by someone we've just discovered? We make a point of going beyond standard, high-street labels. Most of all, though, treat yourself to the wine list. We've worked in the trade and still enjoy close links; wine matters to us, and it shows. We serve it in Riedel crystal glasses (as they do in 3* Michelin restaurants), we offer a huge (but fairly-priced) range and, when we serve it by the glass, we use a state-of-the-art preservation system to avoid that tell-tale, been-open-for-days taste
