Much as we love Cornwall, we're also aware of the wider world and what it means to us, both as individuals and businesses.

That’s why we want to tell you about Shelterbox.

It's a Cornwall-based charity with a global reputation, and it provides emergency aid, worldwide, for victims of natural and other disasters. How it works is simple, but clever: within hours of a disaster, a small team is dispatched. That team takes big green boxes containing a tent, blankets, means of cooking, water purification tablets, water carriers and other essential survival kit.

Since January 2001, Shelterbox has helped over half a million people in more than than 50 countries, people who've suffered earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tsunamis, wars and volcanoes. See where they've worked.
